all about America’s requests on last night’s “American Idol.” Viewers were asked to send in song requests for the remaining five contestants to sing. Jason Mraz was on-hand this week for coaching duties, and Zooey Deschanel andAriana Grande stopped by to surprise Alex Preston and Sam Woolf after they named the ladies as their celebrity crushes.

Standout performances included Alex’s take on “Say Something” by A Great Big World. Harry Connick Jr. called it the performance of the night. Jessica Meuse did well with both of her selections – “Human” by Christina Perri, and “Summertime Sadness” by Lana Del Rey. Finally, Caleb Johnson’s “Still of the Night” brought the house down.

On the flipside, the judges weren’t too pleased with Caleb’s take on “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith. They also didn’t have a lot of love for Jena Irene’s version of Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie.”

We’ll find out who gets the boot on tonight’s edition of “American Idol.”
