Come join us as we Laugh Loud at Cancer. This event, with the help of our sponsors, is going to hlep out The Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer & Hematology Clinic here in McAllen. So please do your part and help suport this amazing organization. Please read below so you can see where your monies from this event will be going to:
The funds will be used to support various worthwhile projects that the VCCC&HC have in place to support the children they serve and the families. These include
1. The Emergency Fund – Many times families are dealing with eviction and this fund covers the cost of rent. Also covers funds when utilities are being disconnected (water, gas, electric only)
2. Patient Pantry – This helps provide snacks to children when they are fasting for a procedure. After the procedure, they’re hungry so they provide them with soup; crackers, fruit, vegetables, etc.
3. Adopt a Family in December. As a suggestion, perhaps this could be a part of our December event and allow WCR to help Mujeres Unidas and Vannie Cook. Low income families are selected by the Social Worker and WCR can adopt them and provide gifts. The Social Worker interviews the family and finds out the sizes for clothing/shoes and what other needs they may have (blankets/fans/window AC units/heaters, etc).
So we need to sell as many tickets as we can to help this amazing organization.
This event is open to anyone.
Tickets can be purchased from any governing board member. Their contact info will be posted here soon.
Thank you all for your support.
