Once they’ve gone on enough dates, most women start lowering the bar when it comes to marriage material.  And if your standards were too high to begin with, that might even be a good thing.

–But if you lower them TOO much, you could end up with someone you shouldn’t be with.  Here’s a list from “The Huffington Post” of five types of men you shouldn’t marry, because they won’t make you happy in the long run.

#1.)  The Guy Who Hates His Job.  It’s one thing if he doesn’t LIKE his job and he’s looking for something else.  But if he’s miserable and has no drive to find something better, you’ll absorb that negativity, and YOU’LL be miserable too.

#2.)  The Guy Who Puts Work First.  This is the extreme opposite.  If he’s a workaholic, he might be a good PROVIDER.  But he might not be there emotionally.

#3.)  The Guy Who’s Obsessed with His Mother.  If he loves her and always defends her, you’ll never live up to his standards.  If he HATES her, he’ll want you to be the exact opposite, which isn’t realistic.

#4.)  The Guy Who Doesn’t Want You to Meet His Friends.  Men need to spend time with their friends, just like women need a girls’ night out sometimes.

–But if he NEVER wants you around his friends, it’s a sign he’s not ready to share certain parts of his life . . . which means he’s probably not a safe bet.

#5.)  The Guy Who Can’t Believe You Picked Him.  If he says it once, just take it as a compliment.  But if he says it ALL the time, he’s probably got self-esteem issues.  And eventually, you’ll start wondering if he’s right.

–PETA has issued a press release announcing their next target is . . . Super Mario. Yes, the video game character Mario.

–In several of the Mario games for the past few decades, Mario has been able to find and wear a suit made out of fur. It’s called a tanooki suit . . . tanukis are Japanese raccoon dogs. The suit usually gives Mario the power to fly.

–PETA says, quote, “Tanooki may be just a ‘suit’ in Mario games, but by wearing the skin of an animal, Mario is sending the message that it’s okay to wear fur.” (Forbes)

We’ve had lists like this before, but apparently guys are more perceptive than you might think. Here’s an article from “Cosmo” on five things men immediately notice about a woman.

#1.) How Thick Her Hair Is. “Cosmo” says it dates back to cavemen. And guys like women with thick hair because it’s a sign they’re healthy . . . a.k.a. “shaggable.”

#2.) If Her Smile Looks Genuine. If it does, you’ll look relaxed and fun. If it doesn’t, you’ll look fake.

–In fact, fakeness is also on the list. They say guys immediately notice things like fake eyelashes and hair extensions. And they make you seem high-maintenance.

–With that said, a lot of guys are attracted to that high-maintenance look. They just might not want to get into a serious relationship.

#3.) How High or Low Her Voice Is. Studies have shown men are attracted to slightly higher voices, probably because it’s a subconscious sign of youth and fertility.

#4.) Her Hip-to-Waist Ratio. Once again, it has to do with evolution. As if you didn’t know, men tend to like women with hips that are noticeably wider than their waists. It’s a primal thing that has to do with your child-bearing hips being able to give them kids.

–Obviously, there’s not much you can do about your hip-to-waist ratio other than lose a little weight. But “Cosmo” suggests wearing a wide belt to emphasize the hourglass shape guys like.

#5.) Her Eyes. “Cosmo” says guys notice your eyes more than anything else. And dramatic eye makeup makes them zero in on your eyes even more.

A group of zoologists are teaching 200 people how to flirt better . . . by looking at animal mating rituals.  The class is part of the Sexual Nature exhibit at the Natural History Museum in London.

Here are some of their tips on how animals get into each other’s pants.

–Make the men do all the work:  Male birds build giant nests and do elaborate dances to pull chicks.  Human men can use a fancy car for a similar effect.

–Get close:  Emperor penguins stand face to face but don’t touch.  Moving into someone’s personal space can show that you’re interested.

–Give gifts:  Penguin males give females pebbles.  Male magpies find brightly colored objects.  Guys can buy flowers or drinks.

–Eye contact:  Baboons make eye contact when they’re interested in mating.

–Watch your hygiene:  Birds preen and make sure they look their best.  Moths and pigs produce scents that drive the other sex wild.  Make sure you look and smell your best to show you’d be a good partner.

–Body language:  Female gazelles, flamingos and crocodiles all give signs that they’re ready for a male to approach.  Human women often point their toes at someone if they’re truly interested.

#1.)  You Seem More Capable.  A study by two economists called “Why Beauty Matters” showed that just looking good makes people think you can handle more responsibility.

–Obviously, looks have nothing to do with how good you are at your job.  But according to the study, the better someone looks, the more we tend to overestimate how productive they are.

–So in other words, wearing dress clothes makes you look more responsible . . . which you’ve probably figured out on your own by now.

#2.)  You’re More Likely to Get a Second Interview.  In one survey, more than 150 employers said the number one reason they reject someone after a first interview is poor personal appearance.

#3.)  You’ll Get a Higher Starting Salary.  Researchers sent identical resumes to more than 1,000 companies, and also asked what the starting salary would be.

–Half of the resumes included a picture of the fake applicant BEFORE they had a makeover, and the other half had the ‘after’ shot.  And the one’s with the ‘after’ shots got up to 20% higher salary offers.

#4.)  It Raises Your Self-Confidence.  The average person can see their own reflection up to 50 times a day.  So you’re not just dressing up for OTHER people.  You’re dressing up for YOURSELF.

–Obviously, if you look in the mirror and like what you see, it boosts your self esteem.  And if you DON’T, it won’t.

People always start gaining weight this time of year, so DR. OZ put out a list of the five main reasons it happens . . . and what you can do about it.  Here they are.

#1.)  Not Enough Water.  When it’s hot out, we drink a lot without even thinking about it.  But once it starts to cool down, we drink less.  And the more water you drink, the less likely you are to snack.

–Maybe you’ve heard this before, but Dr. Oz thinks it’s worth repeating:  In one study, dieters who drank two eight-ounce glasses of water 20 to 30 minutes before each meal lost 40% more weight.

#2.)  Less Time Outdoors.  It’s unavoidable once the days get shorter and the temperature drops.  So you have to do more INDOOR activities . . . like going to the gym, or playing basketball at an indoor court.

–Dr. Oz also suggests buying a pedometer . . . which measures how many steps you take in a day . . . so you’ll know exactly how much you’re moving.

#3.)  Comfort Foods.  You’re more likely to eat baked goods, simply because more people start baking this time of year.  And when you eat too much fat and sugar, it tricks your brain into thinking you still need food.

–Plus, instead of grilling on the barbecue . . . which is a fairly healthy way to cook . . . you eat more things like casserole and mashed potatoes.

#4.)  Snacking on Junk Food.  This one kind of goes hand-in-hand with “Comfort Foods,” but it’s different because it has a lot to do with one specific holiday:  Halloween.

–It’s only a month-and-a-half away, which means pretty soon everyone will have little bowls of bite-sized candy sitting around.

–So pay attention to what you’re eating between meals.  And instead of candy, eat more healthy snacks, like apples and carrots.

#5.)  Too Much Alcohol.  It depends on what you’re drinking, but every ounce-and-a-half of alcohol generally equals about 90 calories.  So a few drinks can easily derail a diet.

–Dr. Oz says that if you’re really serious about keeping your summer body, you should avoid alcohol COMPLETELY, and just drink water.

A British dating site conducted this study, but there’s no reason to believe it’s any different here in the States.

–The dating site FreeDating.co.uk asked its members how likely they were to have sex on a first date, then looked at which dating profile details were most likely to indicate a person was easy.

–As you might expect, it’s far easier to find a guy willing to go all the way on the first date. Four in six men are open to it, while only one in six ladies are.

–The attribute that best predicted whether a woman would go all the way on a first date was . . . her size. Overweight women were far more likely than thin girls to give it up on the first date, and women over 5’9″ were more likely than shorter women.

–And the overall female profile most likely to be down with first-date sex is: Tall, heavier, separated, white, in her early 20s, moderate drinker, and poorly educated.

–For men, the best way to predict first-date sex was marital status. Married men were far more likely to go all the way on a first date.

–The male profile most likely to have sex on the first date is a guy who’s married, mixed-race, in his late 20s, athletic, well-educated, and a moderate drinker and smoker.

–And for both genders, the older a person gets, the less likely they are to have sex on the first date.
