–It’s the most since EMINEM’S disc “The Eminem Show” surpassed 1.3 million in sales in its first week in 2002. N’ SYNC holds the record for the best opening week. Their album “No Strings Attached” sold 2.4 million copies in 2000.
–“Red” is also just the 18th album to sell a million copies in a single week since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991. Another of those also belongs to Taylor. Her last album, “Speak Now”, sold 1.05 million copies in its first week.
–Taylor Tweeted, quote, “They just told me ‘Red’ sold 1.2 million albums . . . how is this real life?! You are UNREAL. I love you so much. Thanks a million ;)”
