Phoenix has the third most cheating spouses and unfaithful significant others in the U.S., according to a new survey based on membership on an infidelity website.

And, Arizona’s transplant nature and economic strains may have something to do with that distinction.

The Valley has the third highest per capita membership on the AshleyMadison.com website, and that’s poised to keep divorce attorneys busy. The site is designed to help people cheat on their spouse or significant other.

The AshleyMadison site had $60 million in revenue last year and has 8 million members in the U.S., according to the company.

Washington ranks first with most relationship cheaters, followed by San Antonio Phoenix and Salt Lake City.

Website founder Noel Biderman said Phoenix’s transplant nature could have something to do with its high membership rate on the infidelity site. He said Arizona’s economic and housing stresses might contribute to more partners stepping out on their existing relationships.
