It’s hard to believe that it has been a year since Rihanna was brutally beaten by Chris Brown on their way to the Grammy Awards, but it has, and since Rihanna has a new album out and all, it was assumed that the pop princess would perform.

However, Rihanna confirmed on Carson Daly’s radio show yesterday that she wouldn’t be taking the stage. When Carson asked who he could call to correct this injustice, Rihanna replied:

“I don’t know. We messed up the show pretty bad last year, so they’re probably a little mad at me right now.”

What?! No way! If that were in any way true, they would be the most giant group of dickheads in the industry!

Stop being so hard on yourself, girl! We’re sure they would love to have you! Course, if you wanted to skip it, we would understand. A whole evening of awkward stares and probing questions doesn’t sound fun to us either.

Don’t eff with the mother-in-law! Except she isn’t his…yet!

Camila Alves‘ mother Multo Abrigado is said to be urging Matthew McConaughey to buckle down and marry her daughter!

“Camila’s mother is very traditional,” says a source. “And she’s worried that since they are not married, Matthew could leave her daughter high and dry with two kids [Levi and Vida] if he falls out of love with her.”

This is Hollywood…marriage doesn’t stop a man OR woman from leaving in this town!

But Multo is insistent and pressuring her daughter to get Matthew to commit. According to the source she told Camila, “He wanted to you to carry his babies — he ought to take real responsibility.”

Matthew isn’t eager to claim an old ball and chain just yet. The source continues:

“It’s caused a rift between them, and Matthew’s kind of scratching his head over it. He told me, ‘It seems kind of cold, doesn’t it?’ But he’s got to realize that when couples love each other, they usually get married.”

Not always! We’ll have to see what happens with these two!

Rumor has it that music exec Tommy Mottola is in the running to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol and that he may be working with Cowell on X Factor!

“Both X Factor and Idol are interested in working with Tommy,” says a source. “Nothing has been decided but they are talking. He’s a shrewd negotiator and a legendary music impresario who has a great ear and instinctively knows talent. He is the perfect person for something like this.”

In a recent interview, Joe Jonas revealed that he is trying to patch things up with old girlfriend Taylor Swift. He explained that the two “recently reconnected,” which he thought was “good.” He also said that he hopes she wins a Grammy since she “deserves” it.

It’s being reported that Elton John will be joining Lady GaGa onstage during her greatly anticipated performance at the award show.
